Frequently Asked Questions
Does it cost anything to join?
At SECFans.com, we want as many fans contributing as possible. We felt the best way to do that was to offer the site absolutely free of charge. (hide me)
I want to contribute a story, any pointers?
First, you need to sign up. Then you need to go to your dashboard and click "blog about something." If you have questions on how to use the story editor, check out our tutorial. Don't forget to add tags so we can find your story! (hide me)
Some writers have a cool picture next to their name. What is it, and how do I get one?
That picture is called an "avatar." SECFans.com has teamed up with a site: Gravatar.com, to serve up your avatar images anytime you contribute a story or a comment SECFans.com. The service is free, just remember to use the same email address that you signed up with here! (hide me)
I noticed some schools have "featured writers." What's required to become a featured writer?
While we'd like for everyone to contribute in their own way, we also look for talented writers who wish to contribute on a regular basis. If you feel you've got some serious writing skills, and wish to contribute on a regular basis, drop us an email. Make sure you tell us what school you be writing for the most. Also, be ready to show us some reference writing material. (We trust you can write, but the boss makes us dot the i's and cross the t's). (hide me)
I found a cool youtube video, can I include it in a story?
Yep, sure can! Just refer to the youtube section in the tutorial. You can also include images, but again, probably want to take a peek at that tutorial if you're unsure on how to do it. (hide me)
When I signed up, I said I was a fan of ______ school. Can I write an article about another school?
You are free to write about any team you'd like. SECFans.com can be your sandbox. Just keep it relatively clean with those rivals stories. And do NOT start unfounded rumors. We feel pretty strongly about rumours around here. Afterall, we get all excited about a juicy story, only to be letdown when we find out it wasn't real. That makes us sad. (hide me)
Sometimes my language can get a little salty. Do you censor stories?
We aren't a big fan of censorship. However, we reserve the right to edit each story as we see fit. If the story is too flagarant, we may just have to delete it. We certainly try to avoid those situations as much as possible. (hide me)
